Ex presidente Jimmy Carter estará en Cuba la próxima semana (+ comunicado Centro Carter en inglés)



El ex presidente Jimmy Carter visitará Cuba la próxima semana por invitación del gobierno de la isla.

El Centro Carter, con sede en Atlanta, informó que el ex mandatario y su esposa Rosalynn llegarán a La Habana el lunes 28 de marzo y se reunirán con el presidente Raúl Castro.

La portavoz de Carter, Deanna Congileo, dijo que el ex presidente tiene previsto permanecer en la isla hasta el miércoles y proyecta discutir las políticas económicas así como formas de mejorar las relaciones entre Estados Unidos y Cuba.

El viaje no forma parte de una misión oficial de Estados Unidos, sino que está auspiciado por el Centro Carter, una organización sin ánimo de lucro. Congileo dijo que se trata de un seguimiento a la visita que realizaron los Carter a Cuba en 2002.

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Former First Lady to Visit Cuba


ATLANTA, GA....Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, will arrive in Havana, Cuba, Monday, March 28, for a visit, at the invitation of the Cuban government. During the trip from March 28-30, they will meet with President Raul Castro and other Cuban officials and citizens to learn about new economic policies and the upcoming Party Congress, and to discuss ways to improve U.S.-Cuba relations. The trip is a follow-up to their May 2002 visit to Cuba. It is being undertaken as a private, nongovernmental mission under the auspices of the not-for-profit Carter Center.
